I took a little journey to the unknown
And I came back changed, I can feel it in my bones
I fucked with forces that our eyes can’t see
Now the darkness got a hold on me
Holy darkness got a hold on me

I thought this was an appropriate tune to inaugurate the blog, because a) Meet Me in the Woods is the perfect song for grooving and b) that’s exactly what I did. I put on my favorite dress, drove to the woods and made the decision to take control.
I bought myself this dress for my first Halloween in LA….and didn’t eat dinner for a while. You guessed it – I was also an unpaid intern. Sadly, this Star Foil Jasper Midi Dress is no longer available from Free People, but it can be purchased used from eBay, here.
I was the moon (and if we’re being real, was also the moon this year and will probably be the moon again next year). It’s actually super easy. Tie together a piece of lace, cut a moon-shape from some cardboard and cover it in foil and glitter. As a disclaimer though, I will admit that this dress is not very easy to get into by yourself since it buttons up the back and the buttons are covered in fabric (the worst, right?!). Got a roommate? Use it as an icebreaker. “Hi, my name is Erica and I can’t even put my own clothes on. Help?!” Friendship made.
Anyway, I think a lot of times people say they are going to do things and they don’t. And I’ve noticed it a lot more frequently since I’ve relocated. So, naturally, I wanted to take action. I know that I like to dress myself – when it’s convenient. I actually 9-5 in social media and I wanted to learn a little more about coding and the mechanics of managing your own business. I also moved to LA to be a writer. Who, up to this point, hasn’t written a whole lot. So, why not start a blog?
I said I was going to do it. So I’m doing it. I’m taking control.
PS. I imagine this and all future blog posts will be most optimized for reading if you do so with my mood music in mind. Also, a small shameless plug for my love of Lord Huron.
